Admission Requirements

Policy

Surrey College is committed to enrolling students who meet all of our program admission criteria and who are likely to succeed in meeting their education and career goals.

Procedure

  1. All inquiries are referred to the Education Centre clerks.
  2. Prospective students are given a student information package. Clerks will review the admission criteria for the program with the student.
  3. If deemed necessary, a student may be asked to write an English placement exam.
  4. The Education Centre Clerk obtains evidence (eg. Transcript, proof of age, etc) from the student that he/she meets all of the program's application criteria and places the evidence in the student file.
  5. Prospective students are told to read all the student-related policies on the Surrey College website: http://www.surreycollege.ca.
  6. After receiving evidence that the prospective student meets all of the admission criteria, the prospective student completes a Student Enrolment Contract and the Education Centre Clerk reviews the contract with the prospective student.
  7. The prospective student determines how they will pay their tuition if they are accepted. If the prospective student understands their rights and responsibilities, the student signs the contract.
  8. The admissions committee will review the student's application and upon acceptance the Principal will then sign the contract.
  9. The student will pay a $80.00 non-refundable application fee.
  10. If the student is accepted, the Education Centre Clerk will prepare an acceptance letter. The acceptance letter along with a copy of the Enrolment Contract is mailed to the student.
  11. If the student is not accepted, the Education Centre Clerk will prepare such letter and mail it to the applicant.
  12. All accepted students are given a student handbook (which contains all the College policies as well) at their first class.
  13. Each student will have a permanent record on file at Surrey College.
  14. It is the responsibility of the student to supply the Surrey College office with notice of change of contact information such as: address, phone number, email, etc. The information is required for sending out student documents.
