Student Applications
Administrative Process
- All inquiries are referred to the Education Centre clerks.
- Prospective students are given a student information package.
Clerks will review the admission criteria for the program with
the student to ensure that he/she meets all the criteria.
- If deemed necessary, a student may be asked to write an English
placement exam.
- The Education Centre Clerk obtains evidence (eg. Transcript,
proof of age, etc) from the student that he/she meets all of the
program's admission criteria and places the evidence in the
student file.
- Prospective students are told to read all the student-related
policies on the Surrey College website:
http://www.surreycollege.ca.
- After receiving evidence that the prospective student meets
all of the admission criteria, the prospective student completes
a Student Enrolment Contract and the Education Centre Clerk reviews
the contract with the prospective student.
- The prospective student determines how they will pay their tuition.
If the prospective student understands their rights and responsibilities,
the student signs the contract. The Principal will then sign the
contract.
- The student will pay a $80.00 non-refundable application fee.
- The Education Centre clerk will then prepare an acceptance letter.
The acceptance letter along with a copy of the Enrolment Contract
is mailed to the student.
- All students are given a student handbook (which contains all
the College policies as well) at their first class.
- Each student will have a permanent record on file at Surrey
College.
- It is the responsibility of the student to supply the Surrey
College office with notice of change of contact information such
as: address, phone number, email, etc. The information is required
for sending out student documents.
Admission Requirements
Surrey College will consider applications from any eligible candidates;
however, admission to specific programs or courses may be restricted
by space limitations or pre-requisite requirements.
In situations where the number of qualified applicants exceeds
the number of available seats in a program, selection of students
will be in order of date on the Enrolment Contract.
The following are the core admission requirements for Surrey College.
Prospective students should check the website to see if there are
specific entrance requirements for specific programs.
- Minimum age of 17 years.
- Submission of a copy of their Canadian Birth Certificate, Canadian
Citizenship, Canadian Passport, Landed Immigrant card or International
Student Visa.
- Submission of your secondary school or post secondary school
transcript, Adult Dogwood or GED.
- Applicants must pay the $80.00 non-refundable enrolment and
registration fee.
Credit Transfer Policy
Transfer credit may be given on the following basis:
- Courses were taken at another accredited institution during
the past five years.
- Curriculum of the course being considered for transfer must
be equivalent to the Surrey College curriculum. There must be
a minimum of an 80% match of the curriculum.
Students must request transfer credit in writing and provide an
official transcript and course outlines from each post-secondary
institution or professional organization or agency at which courses
were taken.
Surrey College Administration will determine the status of these
criteria and award appropriate credit.
